Question

Answer
Dear Jeff,

I attended your clinic out at Etiwanda High School on May 22nd and it was awesome! I learned a lot and won a free heavy hitter pad that is undoubtedly the best pad I have ever played on. I had one question though that I failed to ask you at the clinic. What is your technique for playing rim shots? I know it seems simple, but where should the rim contact the stick, and how do you improve rim shot accuracy?

Thanks

Corey Hiti

Question

Answer

Hello my name is Barrett Cid. I am a Jr. in high school and started drumming last season for my schools' drum line. I started as a bass, and have rose to a state that I am the best snare in my winter drum percussion team. How hard is it to come by a snare spot in a corps? I'm interested in trying out but I'm not sure the specifics that I mush know to be able to join. Thank you for your time.

A very big fan.

Question

Answer
Is it really possible to learn to play and not have a teacher?

Question

Answer
Hello Jeff!

I'd like to ask that there's a solo you played on
www.thedrumclub.com. The title of it is Double Flag. I'd like to ask that is it your solo, or it's an exercise? If it's yours then my compliments, it's a great solo!

Thanks! Peter from Hungary

Question

Answer

I just watched the video of you on Vic Firth website and was floored! I am almost 49 years old, and started drumming when I was 45 (only about three years now). I have always wanted to play drums, but always had something else as an excuse or whatever.

What I am wondering is this: is it possible for me to develop speed similar to yours? I have been working on my rudiments for the past three years and still can't even get a decent double stroke roll going. I am wondering if there is a technique that I am missing, or if I'm just old, and starting late will cause me to take a lot more time to develop the skills, if ever?
